Quick chat on pain.....

Seeker-ak: hey you've changed your post
Seeker-ak: modified
Frankenstein: yup... I had uploaded a draft version.. not the final
Seeker-ak: thats illegal
Frankenstein: :p
Frankenstein: only the last sentence
Seeker-ak: yeah... but see it changes everything
Frankenstein: and why is that?
Seeker-ak: if u read my comment u'd know
Frankenstein: hmm lets see
Seeker-ak: AARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH
Seeker-ak: you didnt read the bloody comment yet?
Seeker-ak: you are SOOOO DEAD
Frankenstein: I skimmed through it...
Frankenstein: but still it dosent make much of a difference
Seeker-ak: the last para
Seeker-ak: the whole equation shifts on what our intention is
Frankenstein: apathetic or happy?
Seeker-ak: yup
Seeker-ak: you can make it flat...but neither of us choose to.... as i keep reminding people
Frankenstein: make it flat ??
Seeker-ak: see.... apathetic has a negative feel to it
Seeker-ak: but i'm talking about 'upeksha'
Seeker-ak: which is not 'not caring a shit'
Frankenstein: oh man... I have forgotten all buddhist ravings
Seeker-ak: but rather not being moved
Seeker-ak: you should not
Seeker-ak: cos buddhism has the answer
Frankenstein: lol sure
Seeker-ak: in a well defined way than most
Seeker-ak: but we intentionally turn away
Frankenstein: :)
Seeker-ak: seriously, i mean, if you CAN do it, giving up materistic possesions is the best path, because it makes everything so simpler
Seeker-ak: but i know i am not likely to take that path.... being too fond of the pleasures
Seeker-ak: but with pleasures comes pain
Seeker-ak: thats why you learn to accept it :-)
Frankenstein: lol
Frankenstein: which is the drift of my argument
Frankenstein: pain is just another sensation... accept it , deal with it
Seeker-ak: thats what people do anyways.
Frankenstein: not really.. they try to avoid it
Frankenstein: which is wrong
Seeker-ak: that is relative to the person
Frankenstein: even buddhism says.. break the cycle of life to avoid pain
Seeker-ak: maybe someone who has being through something once, does NOT want to go through the same shit again....
Seeker-ak: in that case pre-emptive avoidance seems quite rational
Frankenstein: :)
Frankenstein: dude.. can we discuss this on some other night ? I seriously need to get this program done :S
Seeker-ak: sure... can i put this up on the blog though? it will make it more humane
Frankenstein: sure :)

Pain...

Pain... For the scientist, it’s a neural response to minimize bodily harm… For the psychologist, it’s an emotional state triggered by external stimuli… For the sadist, it’s the joy of life… For the masochist, it’s the reason for living… But we all agree; pain is indeed painful…

But does it have to be? Isn’t it just another sensation? Isn’t it just another emotion? Can’t we dismiss pain the same way we dismiss a passing glance… Can’t we ignore it like we ignore a rickety door? Can’t we forget it like we forget an embarrassing moment?

Let us, for a moment think that we have mastered pain, does that make a person insensitive, does that make a person apathetic, is that person no longer human? But isn't it exactly what one man did 2500 years ago?

Are you dressed for the night?

Do you look in the mirror at least once before you go out?
Say you do not, do you wear something after concious thinking before you get ready to go for a party?
Say you do not to either, you do wear clothes. Thats an observational fact.

Human beings have layers, you might like it or you might not, but the fact is unavoidable. Think of it as an extension of the layers of clothing we have on our bodies, and change often, we use those layers to interact with people at different levels.

In other words, when we talk about going for what we want, we are planting our foot firmly in our mouth, since there are so many inhibitions put there by civilization to prevent that kind of animalistic behavior. ('animalistic' doesnt imply bad, in fact, nothing in this clip implies ANYTHING, just a view)

So lets be true, and accept the lie.

Missing People?

Why do I get this feeling that there should be more people in this blog? Maybe I lack patience?

Love is in the air...

Since one of our co-authors is trapped in the long dark tunnels of love, a perspective of love from a human-borg hybrid:

"A series of biochemical responses that trigger an emotional cascade, impairing normal functioning"
- 7 of 9, Star Trek - Voyager. Season 5 Episode - "Disease"

FREEDOM!!!

Civilizations have come and gone with their own definitions of freedom... Egypt had an overabundance of slaves who worked the pyramids, Rome was built on the sweat of slaves, The british empire had slaves who worked their industries... Each with high practical value in a time where compassion towards a different race was an alien thought...

In the modern day we proudly stand saying that each individual is born free, irrespective of gender, race, religion or sexual orientation... We respect each individual's privacy, right of speech, right of self expression, right of life itself... Compared against a people bound in chains and forced to labor, we are free; But are we truly free???

A bird can fly over many countries, does it need to get visa? A whale swims in any sea, does it have to stay in international waters? A lunatic can do anything he wants, does he have to justify his acts?

Are we free to follow our hearts-desire? Does the modern society promote free existance, or does it bind us down with principles, ethics and rules... Would you like to live in a society where everbody does all the right things because they are scared of doing the wrong things, or would you like to live in a society where everybody does all the right things because they simply dont want to do the wrong things???

So to expliot a cliché ... To legislate or to educate... that is the question!!!
